Gaùcho's private messages are end-to-end encrypted with the Signal protocol : they're decrypted on your phone, and nowhere else. Here's what that means in practice — and what to do when someone crosses the line.

What « end-to-end encrypted » really implies
Nobody but you and the person you're writing to can read your private messages — not even us. The trade-off deserves saying plainly : your key belongs to this phone. If you change device or reinstall the app, a new identity is generated and the history of your private conversations doesn't follow you. That's the price of encryption, not a bug.
When someone crosses the line
Two tools, for two different situations.
Report — to alert moderation
From a profile or a message. You pick a reason : spam, harassment, inappropriate content, offensive language, impersonation, or other. You can add details.
Every report is reviewed by the team, which can suspend accounts that don't respect the rules.
Block — to cut contact
Immediate and broad : you no longer see their messages, they can't contact you, and they can't join your matches.

Stuck?
I changed phone and my old messages are gone
That's the expected behaviour. Your encryption key belongs to your device : on a new phone a new identity is created, and old messages, encrypted for the previous key, can no longer be decrypted. Your new conversations work normally.
Can Gaùcho read my private messages?
No. They're encrypted on your phone before being sent, and only your correspondent can decrypt them. We can see that a message is travelling, never what it says.
Does blocking notify the person?
No, they get no notification. They'll simply find they can no longer contact you or join your matches.
What happens after a report?
It goes to the moderation team, who review it. Depending on severity, that can range from a warning to suspending the account. You're not told the detail of the decision, to protect both parties.
